USC Brings The Muss Buss Home As Arkansas' Eric Musselman Heads To So Cal For Coaching Gig

The Muss Buss is going going, back back, to Cali Cali.

Eric Musselman is giving up a somewhat successful run in Arkansas to coach the USC Trojans, announced on Thursday. CBS Sports' Pete Thamel reported the news.

Shaking up college hoops in a mega move, Musselman heads back west to a Trojans team that went 22-11 (15-2 conference) last season.

Previous USC coach Andy Enfield left the Golden State for the SMU Mustangs, setting off a ripple effect of transfers for the Trojans, including Bronny James, son of the famed LeBron James.

Mussleman coached at Arkansas for five seasons before deciding to return to California. He previously coached in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.

The Razorbacks fared worse than the Trojans last season, finishing with a 16-17 record (6-12 SEC). Musselman will still be remembered as a net-positive hire after leading the Razorbacks on a deep run in the March Madness tourney in just his second season with the program.

Musselman's move seems unprecedented within college basketball prestige; still, the 59-year-old coach can't wait to jump in for SC.

"My family and I couldn't be more excited for this incredible opportunity at USC," Musselman said following the announcement.

"I am grateful to President Folt and Jen Cohen for the chance to lead the men's basketball program at such a world-class university with a rich tradition of success. We will be committed to the development of our student-athletes and upholding the values that make the Trojan Family so special. We will hit the ground running and work tirelessly to make our great alumni, fans and all of Los Angeles proud."

Names floating around the vacant Razorbacks job include a couple of names that'll make Arkansas fans groan while providing some upside for the future, including former LSU coach / current McNeese State chief Will Wade and former Longhorns coach Chris Beard.

As of now, consider Beard the frontrunner.
