UNC Fan Hilariously Trolls Duke On ESPN Broadcast Of ACC Semifinal

The rivalry between the fans of the UNC Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team takes no days off.

Last night, the Virginia Cavaliers and the NC State Wolfpack faced off in an ACC tournament semifinal (which the Wolfpack won 73-65 in overtime). About halfway through the first quarter, one of the fans in attendance hilariously photo-bombed the broadcast to troll Duke.

But it wasn’t a Cavaliers fan, nor was it a Wolfpack fan. A loyal supporter of the Tar Heels sat behind ESPN broadcasters Jay Bilas and Dan Shulman, just to poke fun at the Blue Devils.

The fan in question held up a "Where’s Dook?" sign (intentionally misspelled) and a picture of Duke big man and court-storming hater Kyle Filiposwki tripping a Tar Heels player in their last matchup.

Duke lost to NC State in the quarterfinals of this tournament, hence the opportunity for the sign. By contrast, UNC will play for the ACC title this evening.

The brilliance of executing this jab behind Bilas, himself a former Blue Devil, was absolutely perfect.

The fan later identified herself after her troll attempt made waves around X. She didn’t disclose her real name (her X handle is "OldTownMom"), but she did say that her seating choice was "strategic."

You have got to love a well-thought-out plan carried out to perfection.

Duke won’t be missing out on postseason basketball for long. After finishing with a 24-8 record, they’re a lock for March Madness. But when either side of the UNC-Duke rivalry experiences a downfall, the opposing fan base relishes the chance to have some fun.
