Wild UFC Fight Ends With Big Bite From Igor Severino; Dana White Permanently Kicks Out Hungry Opponent

One UFC fighter broke the golden rule of organized fighting, leading to his seemingly permanent ban from the organization.

During Friday's UFC bout between Igor Severino and flyweight Andre Lima in Las Vegas, Severino lost his cool in the second round and took a deep bite out of Lima.

Severino had Lima pinned to the fence, going for Lima's back, until the tight brawl suddenly broke up when Lima reacted in sharp pain.

The referee checked underneath Lima's arm, finding the deep indents and disqualifying Severino. it was a surprising move by Severino, who appeared to be leading the fight after the fight round, landing more strikes (36-30) than Lima.

Ouch.

Severino will not be allowed to fight in the UFC after president Dana White called for the fighter's immediate removal, citing the golden rule of combat. He was disqualified from the match, dropping to 9-1 while Lima improved to 8-0.

"Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters," White reacted. "If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it, but the worst thing u can do is bite your opponent. Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life. Not to mention, he’s going to have real problems with the NSAC [Nevada State Athletic Commission]."

Lima, on the other hand, was all smiles following the match, flaunting a $50,000 prize bonus for the win. He also celebrated the unusual win by having the bite mark tattooed to remember the day.

The 25-year-old winner recalled his bizarre UFC win.

"We were fighting well, and then at some point, for some reason, he decided to bite me," Lima said after the fight. "I went down, and as I was getting up, I yelled because I felt sharp pain. I thought it was the fence at first. I thought ‘there was no way he would have bit me’, especially with the way the fight was going."
