UConn/Purdue Title Game Start Time Should Enrage Fans

College basketball fans deserve better than UConn/Purdue starting late into the night.

The Boilermakers and Huskies will take the court tonight in Glendale to play for the national title, and hype for the matchup is off the charts.

Will Zach Edey finally win a ring? Will UConn be able to repeat?  There are so many fascinating storylines going into tonight.

Unfortunately, fans might need a nap in order to make it through the entire game.

UConn/Purdue start time is completely unacceptable.

The game between Purdue and UConn is slated to tip at 9:20 p.m. EDT on TBS, and that means fans are probably looking at a tip closer to 9:30.

Best case scenario, the game ends shortly before midnight EDT. Worst case scenario, it ends in the early morning hours for people on the East Coast.

I understand the game is being played in Arizona, and the TV network executives want to make sure the West Coast is brought in. The game will start at 6:20 for people out west. Right at dinner time. It makes sense for them.

However, it makes absolutely no sense for anyone living in EDT or CDT. Do the people running the TV networks not realize we have these things called jobs. Fans have responsibilities and obligations to meet.

How the hell is anyone on the East Coast supposed to be energized and ready to roll Tuesday morning if we have to stay up past midnight just to catch the action? The answer is we can't be. I'm always up by some point between 4:30 and 5:00 am. That means I'm looking at a solid five hours of sleep tonight. Nice. Thanks.

The good news is I have a solution. See, I'm not just someone who complains without offering a solution. Start all national title games no later than 7:00 pm East Coast time, and play them on the weekends. That way, everyone gets to watch and nobody has to worry about missing it because of work. Boom. Problem solved. That fixes the situation for college basketball and football. Do you agree? Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com. Now, let us get back to seething over the nonsense that is a 9:20 EDT start time tonight.
