Trevor Bauer Shows Up Big In Exhibition Game Against Yankees

Trevor Bauer showed us, again, that he's ready for another shot at the majors after slinging it at an exhibition game in Mexico versus the New York Yankees.

Bauer pitched three innings against the Bombers — striking out three and tallying two walks, four hits and no runs in his outing.

Sunday's game was the first of a two-header between the Diablos Rojos and Yankees. New York didn't show up with their full arsenal of bats, with Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and others sitting out.

Bauer relished the opportunity to play against the Yankees, which inspired him to sign his five-game deal with the Diablos Rojos. He helped elevate Mexico's Diablos Rojos to a 4-3 win over New York.

"My command was a little bit off. I would have liked not to walk two people," Bauer said. "It was my first time pitching at this altitude, so the ball is moving a little bit differently. But it was a good day. The fans were incredible."

The former Cy Young winner is still vying for a shot at pitching in the majors. Bauer has been out of MLB due to accusations of sexual and physical abuse by Lindsey Hill subjected him to a 194-game suspension. Bauer was reinstated in 2022.

Audiences who tuned into Bauer's performance on Sunday could attest to the pitcher's ability to still pitch in the majors. While Bauer complained about his "stuff," averaging speeds between 96 and 98 mph is a major bright spot for Bauer.

"It was definitively part of the decision (to come to Mexico). I thought it’d be fun to pitch against the Yankees and make some content to entertain the fans," Bauer previously said on joining the Diablos Rojos. "I want to play baseball. I have fun doing it and there’s a lot of things about this organization that are very good."

Making an unlikely appearance against this old team was 41-year-old Robinson Cano, who went yard in the fourth inning — by all accounts, sticking it to the Yankees. Cano played an inspired game, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and his homer.
