Trevor Bauer Will Return To Mound In Exhibition Game Against Yankees

Free agent MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer is ready to pitch against the New York Yankees on March 24 as part of Mexico's Diablos Rojos professional baseball team.

The 33-year-old, 2020 Cy Young winner has garnered interest from MLB teams, but no one's worked up the gall to take a chance on him.

Bauer announced Monday that he'll pitch against the Yanks in an exhibition game in Mexico next week. He pitched against Los Angeles Dodgers prospects as part of the Asian Breeze (a traveling club from Japan) last week.

Facing his old team, Bauer fanned four of 12 batters. The flamethrower even hit 99 mph on the radar gun, showing he’s got enough left in the tank for a pitcher-needy team (Yankees, anyone?).

Bauer made the announcement on X, putting more eyes on his comeback journey to the majors.

"I’ll be pitching against the @Yankees on March 24 as a member of the @diablosrojosmx," Bauer posted.

"I’ve also agreed to pitch 5 games for the Diablos between April 11 and May 8 in lieu of a traditional spring training period as it’s the best way for me to stay ready to pitch.

"This will help me stay in game shape and I’ll be able to join a rotation immediately if or when an MLB offer comes. Hope to see you on Sunday and can’t wait to show y’all what Mexican baseball is all about!"

Bauer's been on the hunt for a new MLB team after the league and Los Angeles Dodgers dubbed him ‘persona non-grata,' stemming from allegations levied against him by accuser Lindsay Hill.

Amid his legal battles with Lindsay Hill — which ended in a settlement and more skepticism over Hill's claims — Bauer played in Japan for the Yokohoma DeNA Baystars. Against the pressure, Bauer kept up his production, posting a 2.59 ERA across 156.2 innings.

The Dodgers wiped their hands clean of Bauer in 2023, releasing the player under the belief that Bauer violated MLB's domestic violence and sexual assault policy.

Bauer joined OutKick's "Tomi Lahren Is Fearless" to discuss his uphill battle back to the majors.

"I want to be an example for kids, other athletes," Bauer shared. "I'm one of the best pitchers in the world. I want to play Major League Baseball, and I have a lot to offer the industry. I have a lot to offer teammates, fan bases, stuff like that."
