Tim Tebow Shares The Sobering Details Of The Fight Against Sex Trafficking On 'Fox News Sunday'

Tim Tebow spoke with "Fox News Sunday’s" Shannon Bream about how he is using his platform to advocate for the most vulnerable people in the world.

Last week, Tebow spoke on Capitol Hill with the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance. He and the "Tim Tebow Foundation" have been working to raise awareness for child exploitation.

The former Florida Gators quarterback said that the biggest challenge is identifying the victims, which in turn makes finding them all the more difficult. Unfortunately, a disturbing amount of sexually enslaved children are unidentified.

"It’s one of the worst evils in the world. It’s not 20,000 kids that are unknown and unidentified, it's over 50,000 girls and boys," Tebow said. "There are so many boys and girls, and 65 percent of them are under the age of 12, and… 2,100 of them are infants."

Tebow added that several brave men and women are working diligently in this fight, but that his purpose on Capitol Hill was to advocate for more funding for organizations who carry out this work.

"The tip of the spear for this fight is victim identification specialists. They are amazing front line heroes, but right now, we only have seven here. We need to have 100, 200," Tebow said. One of the appeals we were making is to bring more funding…for these victim identification specialists. But it really starts with being able to build a team to identify (victims), and then partnerships around the world, because when you have one of these images or videos, you don’t know where this lead is going to take you."

Perhaps the most disgusting element of all of this fight is where a lot of these victims have been found.

"Over half of them so far that have been rescued have been in the U.S," Tebow said.

But Tebow’s foundation doesn’t just involve helping the victims of sex trafficking. He also makes time to work with children who have special needs, another overlooked demographic in society.

Each year, he holds several "Night to Shine" events for children with special needs across the world. Tebow said it's an annual highlight of his.

"Night to Shine is my favorite night of the year. We get to celebrate so many people that have never been celebrated before," Tebow said. "We know, to our God, they have infinite value and worth and we want to share that so that they can truly experience and know that."
