Three Seconds! UNLV's Barry Odom Rode A Bull Named 'Widowmaker' To Raise Money, Ended Up Getting Wrecked

UNLV head coach Barry Odom is doing all he can to rally support for his football program in the Las Vegas community, even if it means riding a bull named ‘WidowMaker’.

The tough football coach was participating at an event to raise money for the football team, along with continuing to immerse himself in the bright lights of Vegas,. Coming off a 9-win season with UNLV in 2023, Odom has done a fantastic job of gaining support from fans, filling up Allegiant Stadium with over 40,000 fans this past season on a number of different occasions.

But Saturday night, the attention in Vegas wasn't on Wayne Newton, it was on the head football coach of the local university, doing anything he can to continue raising awareness for his team. The event was dubbed "Horns & Helmets" and took place at the Southpoint Hotel. Tickets to the event were $150 a piece, and proceeds went to the football program.

The football team kicked off Spring practice Saturday as well, so this was another way for fans to interact with the program, by seeing their head coach try to ride a bull for more than a few seconds.

Not only did Barry Odom decide to strap-in and ride a bull, he was given a monster that went by the name ‘WidowMaker’, which should've been a sign that he was going to be feeling it the next day.

First off, you have to give Barry Odom credit for even thinking about riding a live bull, with thousands in attendance, and only some additional safety gear. It wasn't as if he was wrapped in a bubble, so props to the hard-nosed football coach for taking one for the team.

And let's be honest, riding a live bull is something we all say looks like fun, but to actually strap your ass onto that beast is another story.

Hopefully the football program raised a bunch of money Saturday night, and Barry Odom had a good session with his chiropractor and an ice bath.

Anything can happen in Vegas.
