Texans DE Eyeing NFL Comeback After Battling Cancer

In a day swamped by NFL headlines, one Houston Texans player celebrated a major milestone in his fight against cancer.

Texans defensive end Dylan Horton announced Monday that he's in remission after leaving his team last year to seek treatment for Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The team posted Horton's positive update, relaying the 23-year-old's wishes to make a miraculous comeback to the league.

It'd be the second time a Houston Texans player makes an astonishing comeback after wideout John Metchie III's acute promyelocytic leukemia diagnosis in 2022.

Houston selected Horton in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He shared news of his cancer diagnosis in November 2023, announcing he was stepping away due to "a personal health matter."

"On December 1st, 2023, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma," Horton said  inhis statement.

"Through God’s grace, I’m blessed to say that I’m currently in remission! I am grateful for the love from my family and friends, and support from the Texans organization and my doctors. My next objective is to complete my treatments, then get back to playing the game that I love. Thank you for your prayers and support as I continue this journey."

Horton appeared in 10 games for the Texans, recording 13 tackles, one for a loss and two quarterback hits.

NFL fans around the league will surely champion Horton's return after his diligent fight against cancer.
