T-Wolves' Naz Reid Ejected For Throwing Elbow At Opponent's Head

At a time when his team could least afford it, Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid threw a dirty elbow at an opponent and was booted from Tuesday's game against the Washington Wizards. He exited the game after eight minutes of action.

Washington guard Johnny Davis caught Reid's right elbow. The players boxed out under the rim before the 6-foot-9, 264-lb. Reid got chippy and threw a shot at Davis.

The NBA officials called Reid's cheap shot unnecessarily aggressive. They ejected Reid from the contest, recording just eight minutes of action and three points before his exit.

WATCH:

Minnesota couldn't afford to lose Reid for the evening. The Timberwolves came into the matchup, positioned first in the Western Conference but tied in record with the Denver Nuggets at 54-24.

While Washington lags in the wins column, Minnesota's still pushing to stay atop the West with a short staff, setting the moment up for Anthony Edwards to don the cape again and lift Minnesota to a win. Washington outscored Minnesota in the first quarter, 44-26.

Naz Reid's flagrant elbow may prompt discipline by the NBA. At the very least, a fine.
