Stephen A. Smith Gets Roasted For Major Knicks Gaffe
Famed New York Knicks fan and ESPN personality Stephen A Smith wants to see more action from Quentin Grimes off the Knicks' bench.
The one major issue is that Grimes was traded to the Pistons in February, sparking major questions about SAS's commentary with his major gaffe.
SAS noted that Grimes has looked good in recent games he's watched, the latter of which was an apparent lie. He received criticism over the Grimes comment from his eponymous YouTube show.
The scene was a swing and a miss for Stephen A. Smith.
"I’m looking at [Quentin] Grimes," Smith said as he flamed the Knicks' bench production. "He’s looked good! I’m looking at Isaiah Hartenstein as a reserve, giving you activity off the bench."
Who he meant to address was Knicks guard Deuce McBride. The backlash had already reached Smith's doorstep before he realized his mistake.

On Tuesday, Smith snidely owned up to the outrageous gaffe but seemingly told his critics to ‘deal’ with his occasional inaccuracies moving forward, which is pretty rich coming from ESPN's top-paid talent.
"Thank you — and Awful Announcing — for spelling my name right!" Smith responded on X.
"And pointing out the latest error I made. I believe I know McBride is on the team and Grimes is not. But OMG, with all the stuff on my mind, I forgot. When I make a mistake, I own it.
"Ya want a cookie for catching it? Knock yourself out. Not my first mistake. Won’t be my last. Infallible is not my middle name. Enjoy your moment!"
While sports media inaccuracies occur more often than we'd prefer, Smith's firebrand commentary style doesn't lend too much grace for his mistakes.
If anything, the scene showed just how off the cuff these ESPN talents are with their commentary, not really adding much thought behind their critiques and praises.
The mistake didn't discredit the longtime pundit, but for a guy with a typically " holier-than-thou" personality and a self-proclaimed Knicks superfan, it's a terrible look.

"This is so wrong I thought it was fake. AI generated or something," one X user reacted.
Another said, "Bro you got exposed just hold the L."
Stephen A.'s Knicks are third in the Eastern Conference at 47-32.
