South Carolina Basketball Coach Scores Huge Raise After Saving Program

South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris isn't going to be hurting for cash after agreeing to an extension with the program.

Paris has the Gamecocks rolling with a 26-6 record, a second place regular season finish in the SEC and the team is going to be a solid seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The program finally has life again, and that's resulted in Paris getting paid. Pete Thamel reported Paris has agreed to a deal worth more than $4 million annually that runs through 2029-30.

Board approval is expected at some point Friday.

Lamont Paris agrees to huge contract extension.

Paris will now enjoy the fruits of his labor that resulted in a significant raise from what he was making. The South Carolina coach is earning $2.3 million for this season.

A lot of money, but definitely not nearly as much as $4 million. He's getting a very nice boost, and he's earned it.

The Gamecocks are one of the best teams in the country after falling on incredibly hard times over the past several years.

The team's last 20+ win season was back in 2016-2017 when the team made the Final Four. After that, there were a lot of disappointing and terrible seasons.

Paris even struggled in his first year going 11-21. However, he has the Gamecocks firing on all cylinders in year two, and South Carolina is currently projected as a five seed in the NCAA Tournament.

A win Friday against Auburn in the SEC Tournament could help boost the team to the four line.

Either way, Lamont Paris took a program that nobody feared and won at least 26 games in year two. Now, he's getting paid for it. Let me know what you think of Paris' performance in Columbus at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
