Roger Clemens Talks Charlie Kirk, Golfing With President Trump On Will Cain Show
Clemens says Trump didn't miss fairways during recent golf outing
Major League Baseball legend Roger Clemens joined "The Will Cain Show" on Fox News to discuss a number of topics, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk two weeks ago. In addition, "The Rocket" talked playing golf recently with President Donald Trump and what that experience was like for the 63-year-old.
Cain first started by talking about what Charlie Kirk meant to the Clemens family, with Roger saying he wasn't familiar with Kirk until his children showed him Kirk's videos. "And what a beast," Clemens said. "I mean, this guy, he was versed in so many areas.
"Charlie was, he would take the microphone and set it down when he's done saying his piece so he could listen to the questions that, uh, the young kids, the older people were asking him questions," Clemens added. "And I thought that was a really cool mannerism, that he would always set that microphone down. So he paid attention and listened to detail, so he could answer questions from both sides, whatever side it was. Like I said, I watched so many videos of him now and just appreciate the man."
Clemens connected Kirk's style and substance with baseball, saying he "makes everybody around" him better.
"Again, a baseball reference will, when you have somebody like Charlie, uh, on your team, he makes everybody around you better. And that's what you look for. You look for traits in a person. From that, and again, my boys, I have four young men, they turn me onto it. They're very versed in a lot of subjects, not just the sports field, but, uh, what goes on in politics. So it's been a joy to have to, to be able to talk to them about it."

Roger Clemens On Golfing With President Trump, Civility In Politics
Clemens also told Cain about his experience golfing with President Trump, and Trump's golfing abilities.
"And let me tell you what, when we golfed with him last in Virginia, the president hit the ball beautifully. But it was a little intense when you have 30 golf carts, and you have SWAT teams and, Secret Service all around you. He handled it great. He wasn't just golfing by the way, he was working the entire three hours on the golf course I was with him. He was answering phone calls. He was talking to head of States, the man, I don't know how he operates…"
Cain jumped in to ask Clemens about Trump's driving accuracy on the course, to which he responded that the president is highly accurate off the tee.
"He hit every fairway but one, and I think he missed it by six inches," Clemens responded. "And I say, after the sixth fairway hit, I rolled up next to him. I said, 'Okay, I've got money. I want in on that bet, you against Biden right now. After watching this, I said, 'President, 47, you've gotten better.'"
They also spoke about the importance of maintaining civility and respectful disagreement in politics, something that seems to have been lost on the political left, as so many celebrated and justified Charlie Kirk's murder because he had different ideological views. Cain asked if he'd like to see more athletes and celebrities in the sports world speak up with "boldness and honesty," similar to how say, Chris Pratt spoke about his faith after Kirk was shot.
"I would like to see that," Clemens said. "Definitely. I would like to see that on both sides. Even if my celebrity friends are Democrats you know, we don't have to agree, but we still get along. You don't, you don't go try and you know, kill somebody. You know, again, I have, we have, it's open for debate all the time, and we talk about our opinions and what side of the table we're on. But, you know, we're Americans last time I checked, you know what I'm saying? And that's just the way we were brought up."
If only more Democrats agreed with that.
