Former Rick Pitino Player Shares Wild Comment Made In Practice After A Mistake

Quinn Slazinski has an incredible story about his time at Iona with Rick Pitino.

Pitino has been all over sports news lately after he laid into his team following a Sunday loss to Seton Hall. The famous coach torched his roster for being awful, called his first year with the Red Storm "the most unenjoyable experience of" his life and then claimed he never criticized his team at all.

Pitino has been on a content bender, and while St. John's isn't winning, he at least is making sure the team is entertaining and in the spotlight.

It turns out, Pitino was cranking out golden stories at Iona before a single game with the Red Storm.

Quinn Slazinski shares awesome Rick Pitino story.

Slazinski was asked about Pitino following West Virginia beating UCF Tuesday. Slazinski played for Pitino at Iona before the coach left for St. John's and he left for WVU. Little did people know he would share a story for the ages.

"I didn't box out and this was in practice. And he looks at me...I don't know if I can say this. Out of love, he said he will chop me up in seven pieces and send me back to Detroit, or Houston or wherever the bleep I'm from," Slazinski told the media Tuesday.

"Out of love."

Interesting description for a comment straight out of "Friday the 13th." You can watch him break the situation down below, and let me know your reactions at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Now, will the outrage mob get upset about Pitino telling a player he was going to chop him up like he's a serial killer? Maybe, but who cares? Clearly, Slazinski doesn't care. In fact, he claims it came from a place of love.

I might have to try this line on some friends "out of love," and then let you know how it goes. I'm guessing it won't go well, but we won't know until we try.

Also, Rick Pitino is truly surging back since Louisville fired him. It looked like he was simply going to ride off into the sunset to never be seen again. The national championship winning coach clearly had other plans, including threatening to break out a bone saw if players don't properly box out.

Finally, people need to understand crazy stuff like this happens in college practices. I used to work in college basketball at the D1 level, and once saw a situation unfold where I thought a coach and player were going to square up. At least nobody got chopped up! Let me know what you all think about Pitino at David.Hookstead@outkick.com, and let's hope the content keeps coming.
