Retired NFL TE Brandon Pettigrew Arrested After Punching Glass Case At A 7-Eleven
(This is what happens when a 7-Eleven runs out of those rotating hot dog wieners at the counter.)
An inconvenience at a convenience store in Dallas over the weekend ended with a former NFL tight end punching a glass case and getting arrested by cops ready to stun the ex-player with tasers.
Former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew was arrested Sunday after causing a scene at a Dallas 7-Eleven store. Police were called to the convenience store around 2 a.m., and Pettigrew's anger escalated during his conversation with the authorities.
TMZ released security footage of the 6-foot-5 retired TE, who played for Detroit from 2009 to 2016, speaking with authorities before reaching a boiling point and punching the glass door and breaking it.
WATCH:
The police responded by pulling tasers on Pettigrew, which quickly mellowed down the angry 39-year-old. Lucky for him, the scene didn't end with him getting tased. Pettigrew was handcuffed — the police report provided no reasons as to what set off Pettigrew. He was taken to the Dallas Police Department and booked on a criminal mischief charge. Pettigrew was released Sunday afternoon.
Pettigrew played a solid part in a failing 2010s Detroit Lions team. In his first five seasons with the Lions, Pettigrew amassed 2,828 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
