Pistons' Isaiah Stewart Arrested After Punching Suns' Drew Eubanks In Parking Garage Before Game

Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart was arrested and cited ahead of his team's game in Phoenix on Wednesday night after punching Suns' big man Drew Eubanks.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a call about a fight between two players inside the parking lot of Footprint Arena around 4:45 PM. Police said that witnesses explained that the argument between Stewart and Eubanks escalated before Stewart threw a punch and causing a minor injury to Eubanks.

Stewart, who was already listed as out for the game due to an ankle injury, was arrested for assault and issued a citation before being released. The NBA is expected to review footage of the incident.

"The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable," the Suns said in a statement after the game. "We unequivocally support Drew, and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA."

"We are in the process of gathering information about what happened and what provoked it, and responding to the NBA and local authorities," the Pistons said.

Eubanks still took the floor on Wednesday night, scoring six points and snagging six rebounds. After the game, he explained that he and Stewart were chest-to-chest before Stewart swung.

He made it clear that he was good to go by reportedly calling Stewart's punch "soft" during warmups.

Eubanks, 27, is in his first season with the Suns after spending the last two seasons with the Portland Trailblazers. The 22-year-old Stewart is in the midst of his fourth season with Detroit and averages just over 30 minutes per game.

Stewart's most-memorable moment came in 2021 when he rammed through people to get to LeBron James during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Stewart received a two-game suspension for his on-court outburst.
