Paul Skenes, Who Is Dating Olivia Dunne, Strikes Out Five And Averages 100 MPH With Fastball In Triple A Debut

Look out, MLB. Paul Skenes is developing into a menace on the mound.

The former LSU standout - who is dating Olivia Dunne - was untouchable from the bump for the Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate) on Saturday in his Triple A debut.

In a relatively short start (three innings), Skenes recorded five strikeouts, threw 29 of his 46 pitches for strikes, and generated twelve swings and misses from the mound. He was the most dominant pitcher on the mound for the Indians, who would end up losing to the Louisville Bats, 4-3.

Most of his damage came from overpowering hitters with his fastball. According to the New York Post, Skenes threw 21 fastballs in his three innings, and averaged 100.1 mph on those pitches. His fastest fastball was 101.2 miles per hour, and his slowest was 99.1.

Dunne reposted a clip from the MLB’s X page of Skenes making his competition look helpless from the mound.

Skenes was the No. 1 overall pick by the Pirates in the 2023 draft. In his lone Double A appearance, he let up four runs in 2 ⅔ innings. However, he looked sharp with the Pirates in Spring Training, allowing just three hits and one run in three total innings, while striking out three.

The Pirates currently sit in first place in the NL Central division after sweeping the Miami Marlins in a four-game series.
