NHL Referee Hilariously Warns Fans They're Not Going To Like His Call

An NHL referee is making the rounds this morning after hilariously warning St. Louis Blues fans that they weren't going to like his call.

Halfway through the third period of Thursday's Blues-Islanders game, St. Louis scored a questionable goal that went to video replay to see if it was done via a high stick or not. However, when referee Garrett Rank made his decision that he knew would be less than ideal for the St. Louis hometown faithful, he brought some jokes with him.

REFEREE GARRETT RANK BROUGHT THE HUMOR

"You're not going to like it, but the call on the ice was correct – no goal!," Rank declared to a shower of boos and laughs.

Even the TV broadcasters had some chuckles at it. "That's some good, uh, description there from Garrett Rank!" play-by-play announcer John Kelly said on Bally Sports.

This may be the first time I've EVER praised a referee! Kudos to Mr. Rank over there for bringing some levity to an otherwise miserable occupation where, no matter what, 50% of losing teams and fans will hate you.

Hell, even those greedy Blues fans were booing him despite being up 4-0 at the time!

HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING

This isn't the first time that Rank has had some memorable calls while wearing the zebra shirt. Hockey fans will remember him from last November when he announced that "every player on the ice had a 10-minute misconduct" after a massive brawl between the Panthers and Senators players.

Next time you're heading to a hockey game, make sure to pay attention to whom the refs are - you may get Garrett and who knows, maybe a couple laughs out of it as well!
