Fun-Hating New York Radio Host Evan Roberts Delivers Ridiculous Diatribe Against Rangers Fans

The New York Rangers defeated their cross-town rival Islanders on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. It was an incredible game that included a frenetic third-period comeback by the Rangers. But, New York radio host Evan Roberts went on the air on Monday to trash fans of the best team in New York.

"All you fat Rangers fans that walked out of that building [after the win] … stop acting like you're the Yankees, you've won one [Stanley] Cup in 70 years," Roberts screamed.

You can watch the entirety of his unhinged rant below, if you want. Though, I recommend taking my word for it and skipping. He was so proud of his take that he posted the video to his X account with the caption, "Congrats to the Rangers on the February Stanley Cup."

Roberts is an Islanders fan, and he's clearly very sad. I would be too if I had to watch the New York Islanders 82 times per year.

Fortunately, for Islanders fans like Roberts, they usually only have to suffer through 82 games per season since they routinely miss the playoffs.

It's pretty funny to hear an Islanders' fan rip on the Rangers for only winning one Stanley Cup in 70 years. Yes, that's factually accurate. The New York Rangers last hoisted the trophy in 1994.

That's still over a decade more recent than the Islanders' last Stanley Cup victory (1983). Is Roberts' point that the Islanders winning four Stanley Cups from 1979-83 is more brag-worthy than the Rangers' more recent victory?

It might be. However, it's a strange claim for Roberts to make. You see, Evan Roberts – according to Google – was born on July 11, 1983. That means when the Islanders last hoisted the Cup – May 17, 1983 – Cohen wasn't yet born.

New York Islanders fans hate that they're not Rangers fans

That's where all this animosity comes from. The Islanders haven't been relevant in Roberts' lifetime.

They reached the Eastern Conference Final in 2019-2020, which was the COVID year, so that doesn't even count.

The following season, still affected by COVID, the Islanders reached the Stanley Cup semifinals again. This is unfair, though, because most arenas didn't allow fans.

That gave the Islanders a huge advantage, since they were already used to playing in mostly empty arenas.

Remove the two COVID seasons, and the Islanders haven't won two playoff series in the same season since 1992-93.

Despite not winning the Stanley Cup, the Rangers have been perennial contenders.

It's tough cheering for the Islanders and watching the Rangers dominate New York, so I feel for Roberts.

He's right, too. Beating the Islanders on Sunday doesn't really mean all that much.

After all, beating the Islanders is what the Rangers do naturally. No need to over-celebrate defeating an inferior opponent.
