NC State's DJ Burns Making New Fans All Over The NBA, Including Nikola Jokic

The sports world is taking notice of the NC State Wolfpack after they upset the Duke Blue Devils on Sunday to punch a ticket to the Final Four. And perhaps no one is getting more attention right now than DJ Burns — in the men's tournament, at least.

Burns put up 29 points in the 76-64 win and then immediately trolled the Blue Devils on his Instagram story. He posted a video of his teammate DJ Horne hitting a clutch 3-pointer late in the game and superimposed a clip of Duke guard Jared McCain doing a TikTok dance over the highlight.

Savage.

But not only is Burns capturing the hearts of Duke haters, he's also making new fans in the NBA. Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić was even late to his post-game press conference Sunday night because he was so wrapped up in the game.

"They were not supposed to make the Tournament, right?" Jokic asked about NC State.

And the former MVP specifically complimented Burns.

"I think he’s so skilled, especially lefty. I’d love to be lefty," Jokic said. "And it seems like players, teammates like to play with him. So, gotta be a good guy."

The 6-foot-9 grad student also received shout-outs from other NBA players, including Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.

But Burns and NC State are about to face their biggest challenge yet — quite literally. The Wolfpack will take on 7-foot-4 Zach Edey and the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday at 6:09 p.m. ET.

And hopefully they can wrap in time for Jokic to make his 9 p.m. tip-off.
