Former NBA Player Arrested On Rape Charge

Former NBA player Ben McLemore faces incredibly serious criminal charges.

The former first round pick of the Sacramento Kings was arrested Wednesday in Oregon on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, according to Fox News.

ESPN reported That McLemore was released from jail following an arraignment in the Clackamas County Circuit Court. His bail was set at $500,000, and he had to post $50,000. His next court hearing is July 1st.

Ben McLemore arrested on multiple serious charges.

McLemore is accused of sexually assaulting an unnamed victim in Lake Oswego, Oregon on October 3, 2021 when he was with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to the same ESPN report. Further specific details about the allegations against McLemore remain limited at this time.

"We applaud the courage of the survivor to come forward and put herself through this arduous process, and we will continue to support her in any way we can," the local police said following the arrest, according to ESPN.

McLemore entered the NBA with huge expectations and hype after an outstanding college career at Kansas, but he never lived up to his potential. He spent time with the Kings, Grizzlies, Rockets, Lakers and Trail Blazers before playing overseas in China, Greece and Spain.

He's currently signed by Río Breogán of the Liga ACB in Spain. It's unclear at this time what his status is with the team following his arrest. This remains a developing situation.
