Lane Kiffin Rejected Controversial Morgan Wallen Request During Ole Miss Concert

Lane Kiffin has no interest in rocking his old colors.

Kiffin is taking Ole Miss football to new levels, and there's a lot of hype and optimism around the program. The Rebels coach is building a well oiled machine in Oxford.

However, we all need a little rest and relaxation, and that came in the form of a Morgan Wallen concert at Ole Miss this past weekend.

Lane Kiffin rejected Morgan Wallen's jersey request.

Despite dealing with some legal issues after being hit with three felony charges over an alleged chair throwing incident, Wallen went to the SEC school to make up a concert that had to be canceled last year over some health issues. Kiffin was in the house to watch the show, and the country superstar had a simple request:

Wear a Peyton Manning Tennessee jersey.

"I really appreciate you guys being here. I tried to get Lane Kiffin to wear a Peyton Manning jersey, and he said no," Wallen, a huge Tennessee fan, told a fired up crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Wallen had to know there was no chance at all that Kiffin was going to rock a Tennessee jersey, right? There's no way he didn't know Kiffin wouldn't be rocking the colors of his old school.

Kiffin cut and ran from the Volunteers after a single season in Knoxville. It's been more than 14 years since the Ole Miss coach left Tennessee for USC, which also didn't end well.

Nearly a decade and a half later, and fans of the Vols still view Kiffin as a major villain. Embrace the hate. Let it flow through you, but understand, you're not going to see the former Tennessee coach wear a Peyton Manning jersey.

Not going to happen, especially during a concert at the home of the Rebels.

But, hey, credit to Wallen for at least trying to get the former Vols coach to rock a Tennessee jersey. You have to respect the attempt. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
