Florida's Micah Handlogten Suffers Brutal Injury In Opening Minutes Of SEC Championship

The SEC Tournament title game hadn't gotten past the 17-minute mark in the first half before the crowd was left stunned.

Florida center Micah Handlogten was going up for a rebound against Auburn defenders when he came down awkwardly on his leg. Handlogten immediately went to the ground in extreme pain, with a stunned crowd hearing the gasps from Auburn players on the court that were near him at the time.

It only took emergency workers one minute for them to realize how bad this injury was, rushing a stretcher onto the court as Florida head coach Todd Golden raced over to see his player. During this time of agony for the Gators big man, his family made there way onto the court, watching on with tears in their eyes as Handlogten had an Aircast put on his lower leg.

It was confirmed by Florida that Handlogten suffered a fractured leg, and is undergoing tests at Vanderbilt hospital.

At the same time, Auburn players huddled up on their bench and began praying for the Gator. As for the rest of Florida's team, they were seen on the bench with tears in their eyes as their teammate was being attended to by trainers and both team doctors.

Once EMS workers stabilized Handlogten's lower leg, it took five different people to load him up on the stretcher, where he was immediately taken off the court and into the back of Bridgestone Arena. The injury was so bad and unfortunate that doctors decided to immediately transport him to Vanderbilt hospital.

Marty Smith from ESPN did report there was blood on the court that officials had to clean up after the incident, which was very tough to see.

Both teams had to regroup from the injury when play resumed, as they looked on in shock over what had just happened on the court.

We will keep you updated on the injury if the Florida medical staff has any type of updates during the current game.
