Lil Wayne Says He Was 'Treated Like S***' At Lakers Game Following Anthony Davis Comments

Lil Wayne has always loved the Los Angeles Lakers. But now, it seems the Lakers might not love him back.

The rapper blasted the team in a post on X — saying he was "treated like sh-t" at Thursday night's game against the Washington Wizards. While Weezy did not say specifically how he was treated poorly, he speculated it had something to do with his previous criticism of Lakers' big man Anthony Davis.

"Wow! Got treated like sh-t at the Laker game just now but I figured they'd do me that sooner or later either [because] of what I said [about] AD or simply [because] they don't [f-ck with me]," Lil Wayne wrote. "I been got that vibe from ‘em as well so all good I get it. F-ck ’em. It isn't what it isn't. I'm used to it."

In a November appearance on FS1's Undisputed, Lil Wayne was highly critical of Davis after he missed the previous game with hip and groin spasms.

"If you ask me if the Lakers want to be a championship team and in the future as well, you gotta get rid of AD," he said.

He also questioned the durability of the nine-time All-Star, adding, "You don't wanna say he's soft... whatever it is, it's AD. Because that's his make-up and that's who he is, and he's shown us that."

Is Lil Wayne Right About Anthony Davis?

Historically, Davis has spent a lot of time resting on the bench. To be fair, he’s suffered a few significant injuries — including an Achilles injury in the 2020-21 season and an MCL sprain the following year. But he also misses games for far less justifiable reasons, like back and knee soreness, bruises, fevers and load management.

Since the 2019-2020 season, AD did not play more than 40 games in two of his three full years in L.A. And like Weezy explains, Davis often puts forward a questionable level of effort.

"Anybody that could play is better [than Davis]," Wayne said. "Even when he plays, we have to accept the fact that he’s gonna sometimes play for real. We accept that because the positives [outweigh the negatives]. That man has done nothing for the Lakers. Absolutely nothing."

The Lakers were 3-5 when that episode of Undisputed aired. Davis has largely remained healthy this season, and LA is now 7-3 in its last 10 games.

And last month, Lil Wayne was rapping an entirely different tune about Anthony Davis. The five-time Grammy winner said in February there’s no trade possibility that would result in getting a player who can "replace what he can do" on the court.

"There’s nobody out there like that," he said.

Still, it seems some tension remains between Lil Wayne and his beloved Purple and Gold. And with Weezy in the building Thursday night, AD played like he was out to prove a point.

Davis led the Lakers with 40 points and 15 rebounds as they beat the Wizards 134-131 in overtime.
