Kyle McCord Reveals Ruthless Fashion Ohio State Told Him To Get Lost

Ohio State apparently wasted no time before deciding to cut ties with Kyle McCord.

McCord led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 regular season record and finished the year with 3,170 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and just six interceptions on the season. Yet, he was regularly a point of criticism for fans, and a third straight loss to Michigan pushed things to a boiling point.

Apparently, the Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day made it clear as quickly as possible that the team was going to look for a different QB.

Kyle McCord shines light on Ohio State split.

"We didn't get in the playoff, and we started quickly having conversations of what the future was going to look like. That's just the reality of college football now. Everything moves so fast with the transfer portal window opening right after the season. So, they thought they should move in one way, and I, accordingly, thought I should move in another," McCord, who is now at Syracuse, explained on the "NoDestination" podcast.

Absolutely cold-hearted. Ohio State lost to Michigan, didn't make the College Football Playoff and McCord was seemingly told in no uncertain terms that his time in Columbus had come to an end.

It might sound harsh (and it is to some degree), but McCord is correct when he says it's simply the reality of the modern college football system.

The transfer portal is open once the season ends, and players are on the move as quickly as possible. Right or wrong, it's simply the way it works. Ryan Day is fighting for his job after three losses to Michigan, and he clearly believes an upgrade under center is key to his success.

Be careful what you wish for because there's no guarantee Will Howard, Devin Brown or Julian Sayin turn out to be better than what OSU got from McCord last season.

As for Kyle McCord, he's now QB1 for Syracuse. He has a fresh start, and it'll soon be time to see what he can do with it. Hit me with your thoughts on his comments at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
