Kim Mulkey Shared Hilarious Message With Caitlin Clark During Handshake Line After LSU's Loss To Iowa

Moments after Iowa knocked off LSU 94-87 in what was an instant classic Elite Eight contest, Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey and Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark shared a quick embrace during the handshake line. Mulkey later shared what exactly it was that she told Clark in the moment, and let's just say she isn't sad to see Clark take her talents to the WNBA next season.

Outside a few lazy turnovers early in the game, Clark was exceptional against the Tigers, scoring 41 points to go along with 12 assists and seven rebounds.

After witnessing the show Clark put on, Mulkey had nothing but complimentary things to say about Clark as a player before revealing that she jokingly told her "I sure am glad you're leaving" during the handshake line.

"She's just a generational player," Mulkey said of Clark. "She just makes everybody around her better. That's what the great ones do. I think they had a kid who scored 21 and 18, she had 12 assists, Caitlin Clark is not going to beat you by herself, it's what she does to make those other teammates better that helps her score points and them score points to beat you."

"What did I say to her? I said ‘I sure am glad you’re leaving. Girl, you something else.' Never seen anything like it."

Mulkey has now had a front-row seat to the Caitlin Clark show twice on the game's biggest of stages.

While Mulkey led LSU to a win over the Hawkeyes during last year's national title game, Clark was still a force, scoring 30 points and contributing eight assists. Clark's game and superstardom has taken on new heights since that defeat a year ago, and her redemption against LSU this time around only adds to the legendary status she's already earned.
