Jaylen Brown Thought Warriors Gameplan Was 'Disrespectful' Prior To Helping Lead Celtics To 52-Point Win

It was a no-good, very-bad day for the Golden State Warriors in Boston on Sunday and Celtics' star Jaylen Brown was responsible for a large chunk of their displeasure.

The Celtics obliterated the Warriors 140-88, and this wasn't a case of Golden State sitting any starters, either. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green were a part of their team's embarrassing loss, and in Brown's opinion, it was the Warriors' defensive gameplan that didn't exactly help their cause.

It didn't take long for Brown to realize that Golden State was daring him to shoot it, which he thought was "disrespectful."

"First time it’s ever happened to me," Brown said after the game. "Honestly, I was a bit surprised. Took a little bit of adjusting. … But if you want to dare me to shoot, we can do that too. I thought it was a little disrespectful. But we took advantage of it and we didn’t look back."

It's certainly fair for Brown to say the Celtics didn't look back. Boston jumped out to a 44-22 lead after the first quarter and took a 82-38 lead into halftime. It's not often you see a team more than double-up another in 24 minutes in the NBA, but Boston was firing on every cylinder imaginable on Sunday.

As for Brown, he managed to score 29 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field in just 22 minutes of action. Every single player on Boston's active roster played at least 11 minutes on Sunday, which puts into perspective just how quickly things became lopsided in favor of the Celtics.

Green admitted after his team's historically bad loss that the gameplan to essentially not play any defense at all was implemented just minutes before the opening tip.

"We implemented the strategy like 15 minutes before we left the locker room," Green said afterward.

Optional defense when Brown has the ball in his hands is certainly a bold strategy.
