Jaromir Jagr Says He's Likely Done With Pro Hockey — But He's Not Officially Retired
Is this it for the legendary NHLer?
NHL great Jaromir Jagr is still an active professional hockey player as recently as this season.
However, the 54-year-old hasn't played in a game since late last year when he suited up for the Kladno Knights.
And while he isn't sure he's going to play professionally again, he's not going to use the "R word."
"Retirement." What did you think I was talking about?!
Jagr spoke to NHL.com's Adam Kimelman during an appearance at Willow Grove Mall just outside of Philadelphia, where he played during the 2011-12 season.

During the chat, Kimelman asked Jagr if, after his six games this season for Kladno, he was now retired.
"Not official. I didn't say that. ... It doesn't make sense to me. To practice at my age, and get ready at my age, spending so much time in my life doing this for hockey, and my ice time is like maximum 12 minutes a game, and it's the traveling and everything. At my age, it's not worth it. When you calculate the time I have to get ready for the games, if I enjoy it during the game, mathematically, it doesn't make sense to me."
I mean, Jagr's had a good run, and he was always known to be a fiend when it came to preparing for games. So, yeah, at a certain point, why spend hours in the gym and on the ice to drop a dozen minutes of ice-time?

But there's another reason Jagr said he's likely done: he wants to enjoy the last active years of his life.
"…I don't know how long I'm going to be active, be able to walk and enjoy my life," he said. "I'm 54, so on my side, I've got maybe 15 more years. I want to spend it the way that I want to. I'm talking about active. You can be alive until you're probably 80, if you're lucky. But I'm talking about the active life."
So, it looks like that might be the end of Jagr's pro career after 38(!) seasons in pro hockey.
He played 1,733 in the NHL and tallied 1921 points (766G,1,155A). This makes him second in points, fourth in goals, and fifth in assists on the league's all-time rankings.
