Ja'Marr Chase Promises To Teach New Bengals TE Mike Gesicki How To Griddy Properly

On Tuesday, the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to a one-year deal with former Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots tight end, Mike Gesicki. That means Gesicki adds another talented weapon to a Cincinnati receiving corps that already features star hideout Ja'Marr Chase.

But, Chase has one big problem with Gesicki: the tight end liked to perform the "griddy" after scoring touchdowns with the Dolphins. And he wasn't very good at it. Granted, that's the joke.

Chase certainly isn't going to let Gesicki bust out that celebration if and when he scores as a Bengal. He already promised to teach his new teammate how to perform the giddy properly.

Thankfully, for everyone's sake, Gesicki seems very open to teaching and implementing his new celebration.

It's all fun and games, but Gesicki represents an intriguing signing for the Bengals. Chase is the cornerstone of the team's passing game, but he forms a dynamic duo with Tee Higgins. The team placed the franchise tag on Higgins, who responded with a trade request

His future with the Bengals is clearly murky. Cincinnati wants to keep Higgins, but probably cannot afford to have both him and Chase on the roster. Chase is going to get a MASSIVE contract extension in the near future and franchise quarterback Joe Burrow already did.

The team probably hoped that Higgins would play on the tag this season so that they could take another crack at a Super Bowl run with that trio. But, Higgins rightfully wants to secure his future. His value is quite high right now, and he wants to cash in.

The franchise tag only pays him for one season and should he get hurt or have down year, it could cost him a lot of money in the long-term.

Thus, he's not interested in that. The Mike Gesicki signing certainly doesn't have a huge impact on what the Bengals plan to do with Higgins, but it does represent them bringing in a solid receiving option at the tight end position.

That's not something Cincinnati really had last season because they didn't need it: they had Chase, Higgins and Tyler Boyd. Boyd is a free agent and Higgins wants to be traded.

Perhaps that's why the Bengals wanted to add a receiving tight end?
