Houston Texans WR Tank Dell Sustained 'Minor Wound' In Florida Shooting Incident

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell sustained what the team called a "minor wound" in a shooting in Florida last night.

According to media reports, Dell was wounded at a Florida club, catching a stray bullet during an altercation that did not involve him. The gunman reportedly fired multiple shots.

The Houston Texans released a statement on Dell's status.

The statement noted that Dell received medical attention Saturday and was released from the hospital Sunday morning. Dell is expected to make a full recovery.

"We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla. last night. He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits.

"We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident."

A report by USA Today noted that a 16-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday. The altercation started as a verbal spat before the shooter fired and injured 10 people, all suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Dell had a standout rookie campaign stunted by a broken fibula injury. In 11 games, Dell recorded 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns.

Houston selected Dell with the 69th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
