Hail Mary! Western Michigan Pulls Off The Most Absurd Ending To A Basketball Game This Season

The majority of folks on this Saturday afternoon were not paying attention to the Western Michigan, Ball State matchup that came down to the wire. Unfortunately, most of us missed one of the most insane endings to a college basketball game in recent memory.

A MAC action ending that usually transpires on a Tuesday or Wednesday night during the college football season, was on full-display at Ball State, which ended in pure madness for fans who were sitting in the stands. Honestly, I'd probably still be sitting in my seat wondering what I had just witnessed.

The game was tied at 76-76 with 1.6 seconds remaining on the clock, and it looked as if fans were going to be treated to a double-dose of free basketball with double-overtime looming.

But there wasn't a single fan in attendance that was expecting the chaos that would transpire in the final second of this game.

Western Michigan had to go the full length of the court, or just chuck-up a shot from the half-court logo to win the game. Well, JaVaughn Hannah decided he would throw it the full distance, looking for a prayer. Somehow his prayer was answered, as his pass down-court went through seven different defenders, didn't touch a single player, and the ball bounced straight into the hands of his teammate Anthony Crump.

All alone underneath the basket, Crump got the shot up as the clock struck zero, giving Western Michigan the improbable win over Ball State, as the home crowd just stood in silence.

I've seen enough crazy plays in college basketball, but this one might take the cake in-terms of ‘Are You Kidding Me?’ moments. Sure, both of those teams will need to win their conference tournament to make the ‘Big Dance’, but at least we got to see one of the craziest endings of the college basketball season today.

The Broncos will have fans re-watching the clip for years to come, because that was absolute madness.
