Giants Owner John Mara 'Sickened' By Saquon Barkley Joining Eagles

The folks in New Jersey are still recovering from Saquon Barkley's departure for the divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.

Those already over Barkley's departure already burned his jersey and put a curse on the RB's name for an eternity.

Giants Owner Not Happy Over Saquon Barkley's Departure

Barkley's exit reverberated through the organization, reaching all the way up to part owner John Mara, who was "sick" to his stomach watching "Snakequon" head to Philly.

By no means is John Mara embodying a toxic culture in Giants fandom. Instead, Mara expressed his sorrow over watching Barkley leave the team that drafted him second overall in 2018.

"Pretty quickly after the signing period started,’’ Mara said at the NFL’s annual league meeting on Monday.

Barkley didn't lead the G-Men to excellence, but he stood out as an individual talent. He amassed 5,211 rushing yards, 2,100 receiving yards and 47 total touchdowns in six seasons.

"I told him that I was sick about losing him, told him he was a class act, and it was a very nice exchange we had," Mara added. The bitter sting of losing Saquon may only get sharper if Barkley starts to ball out in Philly.

It's a debate whether Barkley made more enemies than fans when he left the New York Giants.

Barkley had solid standing to leave, financially, when New York's front office reportedly failed to make an offer. But leaving for the Philadelphia Eagles seemed like a deliberate choice to get back at the Giants for not bringing the two-time Pro Bowler back.

Who ends up winning the divorce, only time can tell.
