Georgia Tech Fan Unleashes Scorching Hot Take About 9/11 And College Football

One Georgia Tech fan wishes they could have stopped 9/11 from happening, but not for the reasons you think.

I received a text message last night from a close buddy featuring the tweet below that shows a GT fan wishing they could have stopped 9/11 for one simple reason:

To have a better 2001 football season.

9/11 college football claim goes viral.

I immediately went to look for the thread it appeared on, and sure enough, a fan commented stopping 9/11 would be a major priority if he had a time machine to change one thing.

"Stay in the SEC is the correct answer here.  One smaller one is preventing 9/11 from happening which derailed what would have been a very special 2001 season…we were in the top 10 and poised to beat FSU, but 9/11 postponed that game and we had to sit three weeks without playing before losing to Clemson in overtime. We went 5-4 the rest of the year," the Georgia Tech fan wrote in a now-viral Reddit comment.

Yes, it's important to stop 9/11, but not because of the massive wars that followed. The real priority was saving Georgia Tech's football season.

Take a look at a screenshot of the glorious comment below, and let me know your reactions at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

The responses to this claim were awesome, and exactly what you'd expect from college football fans:

  • "what? lives?!?! there’s something much greater at risk!"
  • Beyond legendary hahahahhahahahahhahahha
  • "smaller one" lmao.
  • Shakes head no Umm yes
  • If I'm remembering correctly, if 9/11 never happens, the UF-UT game doesn't get postponed and Gators don't lose to Tennessee at the end of the season and make it to the national championship. Although I could be misremembering due to hurricane constantly having the Gators have to reschedule games as well.

I'm sorry, but some things are simply funny no matter who you are. Now, is 9/11 funny? Absolutely not, but the fact a college football fan was given the choice to change something about his program and chose to stop 9/11 in order to maintain momentum is simply incredible.

It sounds like something I would say if I was mocking a person trying to be a hardo. College football fans are simply cut from a different cloth.

Logic and rational thinking don't often enter the picture. Decisions are made from raw emotions.

Also, this response on Twitter made me spit out my morning coffee. What is real? What is fake? We might never know, but we definitely college football fans remain undefeated.
