Front Office Sports Tweeted That Caitlin Clark's Career Was Over...At Halftime

The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team narrowly emerged victorious from a Final Four matchup against the UConn Huskies, but Front Office Sports thought the game was over after the first half.

Despite a rocky first half, the Hawkeyes overcame some shooting woes and tenacious backcourt defense from UConn to win, 71-69. Iowa’s reward? A matchup with undefeated South Carolina for the title on Sunday afternoon.

Iowa was down 32-26 in the first half, but was still very much alive despite its sluggish offense. However, Front Office Sports had apparently seen enough and was willing to write a eulogy for Cailtin Clark’s career after 20 minutes of play.

After the first half ended, the website published a tweet with all of Clark’s significant career accomplishments. However, the tweet was sent as the game reached halftime. Once the website noticed its error, it deleted the mistake, but not before The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel got a screenshot.

Iowa’s superstar would do her part to make sure that tweet didn;t need to be re-sent.

Clark would finish the game with 21 points, behind only teammate Hanna Stuelke (23) for most points scored by any player in the game. Despite making only three 3-pointers the entire night, she was equally as effective passing the ball and dished out seven assists.

On Sunday, Iowa’s resolve will be tested to an extent it hasn’t been all season. South Carolina has yet to lose a game this year and appears to be the most dominant team in the land.

But maybe, just maybe, Clark has one more special performance up her sleeve. We’ll find out in a couple of days.
