Flyers And Devils Stadium Series Fits Will Make You Want To Eat Lightning And Gabagool

There are two NHL Stadium Series games this weekend at MetLife Stadium with the first one — a meeting between the New Jersey and Philadelphia Flyers – taking place on Saturday.

It's an important divisional matchup for both teams who are jockeying for position in a crowded Metropolitan Division. But that doesn't mean that both clubs couldn't find time to have fun with their wardrobes.

That has become a tradition for outdoor games in recent years. In January, the Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights showed up to the 2024 NHL Winter Classic as fishmongers and Elvis impersonators, respectively.

So, what did the Devils and Flyers have in store for us?

Well, they paid their respects to some of the greatest Italian-Americans to ever grace both the silver and small screens.

Let's start with the visiting Flyers. Given the clues "Italian-American" and "Philadelphia," there's really only one thing they could have gone with.

Yeah, you bet your cheesesteak-loving ass they showed up dressed as Rocky.

Damn, talk about arriving dressed for style and comfort.

This is the second Stadium Series with a hint of Rocky. Anyone recall how the 2019 Stadium Series game between the Flyers and Penguins got started?

So, what did the Devils have for us? Once again, given the clues "Italian-American" and "New Jersey," I think you know.

You bet your gabagool-loving ass they showed up looking like extras from The Sopranos!

Fantastic stuff. Although, if the Devils don't walk out onto the field at MetLife Stadium — the same one that destroys everyone's knees and Achilles' tendons — to the sweet sounds of "Woke Up This Morning," I will write the NHL a strongly worded — but still polite; I'm not an animal — e-mail.

Man, what a pair of looks. Perfect for this game.

Oh, and that thud you just heard was Tommy DeVito's agent passing out from the overwhelming levels of stereotypical Italian-Americaness…
