Fans Applaud Kevin Harlan For Making A 'Halo' Promo One Of The Best Parts Of The Drake-Indiana State Game

Kevin Harlan can take an ad for a TV series and make it the most exciting thing you’ve ever heard.

Early Sunday, the Drake Bulldogs played the Indiana State Sycamores in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship game. As Sycamores guard Julian Larry lined up for a pair of free throws in the second half, Harlan had to read a promo for the "Halo" show on Paramount+.

Now if this were a mere mortal reading the ad, you’d fall asleep from a lack of excitement in the commentators delivery. After all, who can make reading a roughly 10-second synopsis of a TV show even remotely engaging?

Kevin Harlan, that’s who.

The sports casting legend was told to read the promo for the show with some "vigor" by his producers, and he delivered.

Now I must confess, I don’t know a thing about Halo show, or the video game. I was one of those sheltered nerds who never played this game growing up, so I don’t have an ounce of emotional investment in this universe.

But after hearing Harlan talk about Master Chief leading a team of elite warriors to save humanity from alien threats, I kind of want to see what this universe is all about.

Scratch that, I really want to. Harlan’s promo sold me.

Fans watching the game applauded Harlan fro bringing his trademark energy to what could have been an otherwise dull part of the broadcast.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go create a Paramount+ account. Those "Halo" episodes aren’t going to watch themselves.
