DJ Burns Foolishly Trash Talks Zach Edey, Dishes Out Bulletin Board Material: VIDEO

DJ Burns made a mistake all athletes should hope to avoid at all costs:

Handing out bulletin board material before a big game.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack play the Purdue Boilermakers in the Final Four this weekend, and it's shaping up to be one hell of a dogfight.

The Wolfpack are on an all-time great Cinderella, and Purdue is hoping to cap off Zach Edey's college career with a national title. Something has to give, and many people expect the Boilermakers to win.

Well, Burns has made sure to give Matt Painter's team a little extra motivation.

What's one thing you should always avoid doing in sports? Giving your opponents some free extra motivation. That's exactly what the Wolfpack star did.

"Yeah, for sure. I think he hasn’t had anybody put scoring pressure on him as much as I will, for sure. Well, maybe he did, but not under a stage like this," Burns told the media when asked Thursday if he thinks he can give Edey some problems.

Let's run that back.

Burns said, "I think he hasn’t had anybody put scoring pressure on him as much as I will."

What a quote! What an incredibly stupid thing to say.

For the record, DJ Burns averaged 13 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. He's 6'9" and 275 pounds. In what world is he living in to think Zach Edey has never faced anyone like him?

Over the years, some of the bugs Edey has played against include Armando Bacot, Hunter Dickinson, Jonas Aidoo, Tyler Wahl, Steven Crowl, Kofi Cockburn, Oso Ighodaro and Oumar Ballo.

DJ Burns might be more talented than a lot of guys Edey has played, but the idea that Zach Edey has *NEVER* played a guy like him.

Purdue is currently favored by 9.5 points as of publication. Edey might be a little extra motivated going into Saturday after these comments. Do with that information as you will! Let me know your prediction for the game at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
