Disney Open To Hiring Trans Ariel For 'The Little Mermaid' Show At One Of Its Parks
Things may be about to get very weird "Under the Sea."
Disney, ever the DEI darling, is at it again. The Mouse House has an open casting call for actors in a new "The Little Mermaid" show it's looking to produce for its Disney resort in Florida. And for this show, it's totally cool if every little girl's favorite mermaid is trans.
According to Disney news tracking site WDW News Today, the entertainment giant is holding auditions in New York for aspiring Ariels and Erics (every princess needs a prince, remember), and it's not restricting the roles to biological men and women.
The listing for Ariel reads as follows:
"18 to 30 years old, White woman, transgender woman. 5’2″ – 5’6″. A spirited, fun-loving, yet curious mermaid princess who longs to be a part of the human world. Lyrical pop soprano with belt to C."
And the one for Eric:
"18 to 30 years old, White man, transgender man. 5’10" – 6’0″. Charismatic and fearless, Prince Eric is a true romantic who never gives up on his heart’s desire. Non-singing role."
For some time now, parents have begged the once-reputable entertainment giant to stop infusing its stories with LGBT elements. While they certainly avoided that with "Inside Out 2," this casting call shows that they still haven’t gotten the message that most Americans don’t want to see children’s stories become a platform for a divisive worldview.
