Dave Tepper Makes Unplanned Appearance On Pat McAfee Show, And It Wasn't That Awkward

One of the most unexpected guests made an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" earlier today.

NFL reporter Adam Schefter was reporting from the annual NFL meetings, and was on a FaceTime call with McAfee and his crew. During the conversation, someone walked up to Schefter and shook his hand.

McAfee didn’t know who to expect, but let out a surprised yell once he realized it was Carolina Panthers owner Dave Tepper.

After the owner recognized that he was indeed on his show, Tepper said "McAfee is a big fan of me. He’s almost as good-looking as me, so I understand."

That made McAfee and A.J. Hawk laugh, and then McAfee implored Schefter to tell Tepper that "... he’s the most entertaining owner in the league, by far."

Tepper then said (through Schefter) "There you go."

McAfee and Tepper do have a history, though it is by no means positive. Surprisingly, that largely has to do more with Tepper’s antics than McAfee’s.

McAfee Has Been Critical Of Tepper In The Past

The Panthers' owner has already entered the discussion for being the worst owner in the NFL because of his poor coaching decisions. He fired Frank Reich after forcing the head coach to draft Bryce Young instead of C.J. Stroud, a decision that looks to be a cataclysmic failure after just one year (the Panthers have also stunk under his tenure).

Later in the season, that frustration might have caught up to him. During one of Carolina’s 15 losses in the 2023 season, he threw a cup of ice at a fan and earned himself a $300,000 fine.

After seeing this childish behavior, McAfee lashed out at Tepper on his show.

"I assume he's got to be incredibly intelligent in some form of business. Sure. Because with how big of an a–hole he acts, he should not be as successful as he is. Second of all, he's only in the whole NFL in a lot."

He even had country singer Luke Combs on his show to talk about the state of the Panthers, and he (like McAffe) does not hold a high opinion of Tepper.

"It hasn’t happened yet, for sure," he said when asked if Tepper could steer the Panthers around. "He’s obviously a shrewd businessman. But I’m a great musician, and I’m not a football coach. That’s just the way it is. I’m great at doing music, but I ain’t at the combine telling you who to draft. It ain’t happening. You can be good at one thing, don’t mean you’re good at something else. And throwing drinks on the fans in Jacksonville ain’t a hot look."

But even with all that backstory, McAfee and Tepper found a way to keep it civil, surprisingly funny, and drama free. Who know if that will last forever though, especially with McAfee's show.
