Dan Hurley Explodes On Fan In Heated Verbal Altercation During UConn-St. John's Game: VIDEO

UConn coach Dan Hurley blew his lid Friday night during a 95-90 win over St. John's.

The Huskies advanced to the Big East title game, but the final score was hardly the most interesting moment of the night. Hurley, once again, got into it with a fan, and he really lost his cool this time.

Hurley got a technical foul moments after Rick Pitino did for jawing with the ref, and the reason why revolved around fan Tom O'Grady, according to Fox Sports.

O'Grady, a close friend of Pitino, was seated next to the St. John's bench when all hell broke loose because Hurley alleged he was getting aggressive. Security was shown on the broadcast speaking with O'Grady, but not throwing him out.

Dan Hurley blows up on St. John's fan.

Not only did Hurley lose his temper on a fan, but there were dueling narratives of what happened once the game happened and the press was addressed.

"Obviously the place was in a frenzy when Coach (Pitino) got his technical. And then there was a guy -- there was a short guy in a red blazer that was on the court yelling at the refs, and then he started yelling at me, you know, and moving in my direction. So I was just kind of pointing out to (official) James (Breeding) that he was behaving worse than Coach Pitino. I was really just trying to help the officials, you know. They might not have seen it. And then I got a technical for pointing out more increasingly aggressive fans. At courtside, you shouldn't end up on the court," Hurley told the media after the game, according to the same Fox Sports report.

He further added, "It was a lot of expletives. And, again, like all you'll see with the camera -- you're not seeing what I'm -- what's in front of me. And I'm probably now the boy who cried wolf because of late game. But I promise you if we play Marquette tomorrow night, there will be no incident because those people are incredibly classy fans and we have incredible respect for them."

However, O'Grady has a very different version of events, and claimed he didn't say a single word to Hurley. He simply told the refs the UConn coach was out of the box.

"I did not say a word to Dan (Hurley)," O'Grady said. "I said to the referee that he was out of the box, and the ref gave him a T. If someone was cussing at him, it wasn't me. Coach (Pitino) is my best friend. Do you think I would ever do that to another coach? There's no way," Pitino's friend explained.

It's a true mystery. Welcome to the chaos of March.

Hurley has a history.

What I will say is Hurley has a trend of getting into it with fans. He gives a serious fake tough guy vibe. He implied he was going to hurt a fan just last week, and that's not the only issue he's had when it comes to running his mouth.

As I often point out, there are few people who are bigger fake tough guys than athletes and coaches. All talk, no action. How is it that one coach has so many incidents with opposing fans? Really makes you wonder if it might not be the fans who are the issue.

Next up is Marquette. He's vowed to behave. We'll see if it actually happens. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
