Dan Hurley Threatens A Fan For The Second Time This Season: 'Come Here, You'll Get Hurt'

UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley is a passionate guy, perhaps too much so.

Hurley’s No. 2-ranked Huskies defeated the Providence Friars 74-60 on Saturday, bringing their regular-season record to a remarkable 29-3 overall and first in the Big East. Because this was a conference match-up on the road, there were a lot of hecklers in the stands. As such, Hurley and his team had to deal with an incredibly hostile environment.

So when UConn emerged victorious, Hurley felt like talking a little smack with the Providence faithful. But he went way too far.

As he was walking off the court, Hurley pointed to one fan and started to mock - and even threaten - the fan.

"Look at this guy…come here, you’ll get hurt," Hurley said.

Now it’s unclear if the coach meant he would be the one to hurt the man, or that security would be the one to lay the boom on the fan. Nevertheless, it is a terrible look for a coach of one of the premier programs in the country to physically threaten a fan.

It’s not the first time this has happened this year either. After a 85-66 blowout loss to Creighton in February, Hurley threatened another heckler. As he walked off the court, he reportedly pointed to a fan and said "I’ll knock you out."

Again, who knows how bad the heckling got in that game? But as the face of a team, the coach has to act above reproach, especially when dealing with the opposing team’s fans.

Hurley would do well to find another way to express his passion and frustration.
