Dan Campbell Scores Contract Extension

Dan Campbell has locked up a contract extension with the Lions.

Campbell is fresh off leading Detroit to its best season in more than 30 years, and fans have never been more excited about the future of the franchise.

The Lions are now doing what it takes to make sure he doesn't leave. The team announced Thursday morning that Campbell and GM Brad Holmes have both locked down extensions.

Specific contract details aren't known, but he definitely deserves to be among the highest-paid coaches in the league.

Lions announce Dan Campbell extension.

Dan Campbell deserves every single penny of whatever the Lions are paying him. Every single penny. The man took a joke of a franchise and brought it to the NFC Championship game in year three.

He narrowly missed the playoffs in year two after a rough first season. That's an incredibly short amount of time to make the franchise a legit competitor.

Historically, the Lions have been a cellar-dweller for decades. The team just seems to be cursed. No matter what happens or who is on the roster, the Lions just couldn't find a way to win a high level for years.

The team's last double digit win season prior to the 2023-24 campaign was back in 2014. Barack Obama was President at the time.

Yet, Dan Campbell showed up and wasted no time turning the franchise around. The team went from a playoff drought to the NFC Championship in three short seasons.

When you turn around a dumpster fire in the NFL, you get paid. That's what Dan Campbell has done, and he now has an extension. As a Lions fan, I love to see it. Let me know what you think of the team locking up Campbell at David.Hookstead@outkick.com
