Crazy-Eyed Daniel Jones Draws Big Questions

Daniel Jones looked hopped up on Five Hour Energy while talking to the media Monday.

DJ was locked in, sporting a wide-eyed stare at the cameras, prompting the internet to sound off on the Giants QB's wild look. The Adam Gase stare wasn't a hit … with anyone.

Considering it's been a while since we've seen the Giants QB, seeing wide-eyed Jones was a bit jarring.

Perhaps Daniel Jones knew he'd get pressed about the Giants potentially drafting a new quarterback sixth overall in this year's draft.

Jones spoke on the whispers surrounding his job security heading into the 2024 season. The five-year starter admitted to dodging the outside noise, notably amid a rehab.

Daniel Jones told reporters, "I think you can get into trouble when you try to think too much about some of those things and how it all works out."

He added, "Yeah, like your antenna for some of those dynamics and relationships. I’m just focused on what I’m doing, and that’s my rehab, getting healthy, spending time with the guys, and making sure we’re getting on the same page, and having the best spring we can."

Last offseason, the Giants extended Jones on a four-year, $160 million deal. He played six games before tearing his right ACL.

Jones spoke on his ACL rehab, targeting a return date in time for training camp.

"The plan is to be ready to go by training camp," Jones said. "That’s what I’m shooting for, and I feel good about being ready."

Sadly for Jones, Big Blue Nation reached the point where they're checked out on Jones. While some fans contend that an improved offensive line and better receivers can elevate Jones to QB1, the QB has made his case that he lacks the "stuff" a franchise starter requires.

Jones has a 22-36-1 record through five seasons, passing for 12,512 yards, 62 passing touchdowns and 44 interceptions.

Last season, Jones finished his short run with two dreadful passing TDs against six INTs (6 games), averaging a career-low 5.7 yards per pass.

Between Jones' bad contract extension and losing Saquon Barkley, Giants fans think back to the failed drafts throughout the 2010s, which have handicapped their team for a decade.

As the NFL Draft nears, the Giants are reportedly considering drafting a quarterback with their first pick to usurp the 26-year-old Jones as the franchise man.

Since going sixth overall in 2019, Jones has fallen short of establishing himself as the future of the G-Men.

Jones was viewed as the heir apparent to Giants legend Eli Manning.

The front office, formerly led by Dave Gettleman, even followed the Manning playbook in drafting Jones. Coached by former Manning mentor David Cutcliffe, Jones was picked as the next man up in New York, with Big Blue's ownership also having a heavy hand in DJ's draft process.

Amid a turbulent quarterback draft, there's little to no hope for East Rutherford's future. Sad!
