Conor McGregor Guarantees Summer UFC Fight - But Do We Believe Him?

Could it really be happening?

That's what many UFC fans and Conor McGregor fans are wondering, as the Notorious Irishman announced last night that he will be fighting Michael Chandler this summer.

THE MAC IS BACK!

MMA fans haven't seen McGregor fight in nearly three years since suffering a broken leg during a heated loss to Dustin Poirier. If that wasn't enough, Conor hasn't won a fight in over four years when he defeated Donald ‘Cowboy' Cerrone. This has led to much speculation that we would never see McGregor back in the ring, especially as he has set his sights on Hollywood and other endeavors. This Friday Conor will make his film debut in ‘Road House,’ featuring Jake Gyllenhall.

"We got confirmation a few days ago that it's all systems go," McGregor told ESPN last night. "I had my training camp in Dubai [a few months ago], I had a camp in Cannes [as well]. I was preparing, and then I was kind of getting nothing back [from the UFC]. And then other things came up and I kind of dipped out. But now, it's on. So there's no messing around now," the former two-time champion continued.

It's important to note that despite Conor saying the fight is on, just last week UFC President Dana White said that there were no plans for Conor to return to the cage. It appears that Conor's opponent, Michael Chandler also isn't fully aware that he's supposed to start getting in fight shape either for a match in just a few months.

During his fight return announcement last night, Conor showed that at least verbally, he still has what it takes to sell a fight.

"Shut up, Michael (Chandler) you f'n imbecile. The man doesn't shut up… I like Mike but I'm going to bust him up. I'm going to bust Mike up, yeah? If I say it, I do it. If I say it, it gets done. Put that on my stone."

It's unclear what weight class McGregor vs Chandler would be, but it's expected at 185lbs.

MCGREGOR VS CHANDLER RUMORED FOR SUMMER

As a diehard Conor fan myself and someone who has seen him fight in person multiple times, I need him back in the cage. Conor will be 36-years-old in July and he sure as heck isn't getting any younger. In addition, it's been impossible to keep him out of trouble after criminal complaints of alleged battery and assault against both men and women.

If Conor doesn't fight in the cage soon - and I'm talking about soon as in this summer, who knows if he ever will.
