College Football Playoff Rankings: Rivalry Week Could Bring Total Chaos In SEC, ACC, Big Ten And Big 12

With Rivalry Week looming, the newest CFP rankings could unleash total chaos across the SEC, Big Ten, and ACC playoff picture.

We have officially reached ‘rivalry week’ in college football and the newest set of CFP rankings have set the stage for what will be a critical weekend in terms of who could make the playoff.

The ongoing chatter has centered around how many teams from the Big Ten or SEC could make the playoff, but one of the main topics of discussion is whether the ACC could see its conference champion being left on the outside.

We are on the cusp of having a very tough conversation about Notre Dame getting in over Miami.

Lane Kiffin Says It's 'Very Important' To Coach Remainder Of Season At Ole Miss. We'll See About That

Now that we are fully engaged in the topic of whether Notre Dame or Miami deserves to make the postseason, the ‘data points’ that the CFP committee loves to reference on a weekly basis will become that much more important.

Besides that, without any top-10 teams falling this past weekend, we have to start paying further attention to what type of chaos having two teams from the Big 12 or even the G-5 could present.

As we head into this critical weekend slate of games, this could turn into one of the most chaotic sets of games we've seen this season. Could Michigan cause Big Ten chaos by defeating Ohio State? What happens if Texas defeats Texas A&M?

What happens if Alabama makes the SEC championship, but loses?

What about Vanderbilt? If the Commodores go on the road and defeat Tennessee, could this present a wild series of events if they also received some help by having a few teams in front of them lose?

Remember, the four highest ranked CFP teams will get a first round bye.

Alright, where did the playoff committee land this week?
