New College Football Video Game Details Drop, Fans Might Not Love Transfer Portal

More "College Football 25" details have hit the web, and it's a bit of a mixed bag.

The first college football video game will be released at some point in July, and as I reported earlier in the week, that date is tentatively believed to be set for July 19th.

Matt Brown confirmed my reporting Wednesday that July 19th is the target date as of right now, but it could also change in the coming weeks.

Now, there are even more details, and it sounds like the transfer portal might be an issue.

"College Football 25" sounds like it will have a very realistic transfer portal.

One of the big questions people have had is how the transfer portal will work in the game given it's the wild west in real life. Players are switching schools all the time. Will the same be possible in "College Football 25"?

Well, EA Sports is attempting to strike the right balance between realism and fun, according to Brown (via HeartlandCollegeSports.com).

What exactly does that mean? I'm not sure, but my guess is EA Sports doesn't want a situation where a player is building a powerhouse dynasty at a smaller school and then players transfer every single year to P4 programs.

Part of the fun of the game is turning a tiny school into a national power. That's essentially impossible in the NIL era, but EA Sports might allow it to happen in "College Football 25." I certainly hope that's the case because players definitely don't want to have to rebuild an entire roster every single year. If that's the case, then EA Sports will have failed.

More than anything, fans simply can't wait for "College Football 25" to get here this summer. It's been far too long since 2013 when the last game was released.

I'm literally buying a PS5 just to play the game, and I'm not even a fan of video games. College football games are simply an exception.
