EA Sports Announces Significant College Football Video Game Update

EA Sports is rocking and rolling when it comes to putting together rosters for "College Football 25."

The highly-anticipated video game will be the first college football game in eleven years, and it's expected to hit shelves at some point in July.

To say fans are excited would be an incredible understatement. I've never seen sports fans amped up like this for a video game in my life.

EA Sports recently started the process of letting players opt into the game for $600 and a free copy. It's off to a blazing hot start.

More than 10,000 college football players opt into new college football game.

The video game giant revealed to ESPN that more than 10,000 players have already opted into the game. EA Sports says it's now hit 87% of its goal for getting players into the game.

"The response to the athlete opt-in opportunity for EA Sports College Football 25 has been phenomenal. In the little over one week, over 10,000 athletes across the FBS have opted-in to the offer with more saying 'yes' every hour. We're excited to welcome more athletes in the weeks ahead and to debut this first class of athletes in the game when it launches this summer," EA Sports executive Daryl Holt explained to ESPN.

Roster will consist of 85 players, and there will also be an avenue for walk-ons to eventually opt in. Freshman will be eligible to opt in once they enroll in school.

This is great news for fans. Everyone wanted to know how many players would opt in, and there's no question a critical mass has been hit.

Will there be some holdouts? I'm sure there will be. Will it slow down the game one bit? Not at all. Not one bit. "College Football 25" is a bullet-train, and that train isn't one that's going to stop.

Get a seat on it or get run over. It's that simple.

I truly can't wait for the day the game drops. My girlfriend might not see me for a long time, and I know there are plenty of other guys in the same spot with the same mentality.
