Cleveland Browns Land WR Jerry Jeudy In Trade With Offloading Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos continue to offload their top offensive players, with Jerry Jeudy being the latest departure from the Mile High City.

Next season, Jeudy will once again don orange and white uniforms on Sundays, this time as a member of the Cleveland Browns. The AFC North franchise sent a fifth and sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft to Denver in exchange for the wideout.

The movie isn’t a total surprise, given the consequences of cutting Russell Wilson earlier this week. Over the next two seasons, Denver will have to spend a total of $85 million in dead money as a result of cutting Wilson. Obviously, that means that they have to find another way to retain current players and sign new ones.

Enter Jeudy.

Sending the wide receiver to Clevalnd saves them just under $13 million against the salary cap (releasing Justin Simmons also helped with cap space).

Trading a talent like Jeudy might seem odd, considering that Denver could choose a quarterback in the middle of the first round. Even if they get an experienced quarterback in free agency, you want to give a guy some capable options to throw too.

Fortunately for Denver, they still have a bonafide top receiver. Cortland Sutton was the wideout for the Broncos last season, not Jeudy. As such, whichever quarterback Denver gets next will still have a viable No. 1 option to throw to.

Jeudy will join a wide receiver room that already boasts Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, forming a formidable trio. The newest Brown finished with 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns in the 2023 campaign.
