Charles Barkley Eviscerates Grand Canyon After Its NCAA Tournament Exit

As a former Auburn Tiger, it's incredibly rare for Charles Barkley to say something that could even be perceived as a compliment to the University of Alabama, but Grand Canyon left him no choice on Sunday night.

The Lopes gave the Crimson Tide quite a fight trailing by just eight points at halftime before ultimately falling 72-61, but Barkley wasn't impressed by what he saw from Grand Canyon, at all.

Recapping the game during CBS' postgame show, Barkley went as far as to say the Lopes played the "dumbest game of basketball" he had ever witnessed.

"Grand Canyon, that was the dumbest game of basketball I think I've ever seen," Barkley said with a smirk. "Everybody went 1-on-1, they missed how many free throws? I’m not sure what they were doing offensively. I don’t think they ran a play the entire second half.

"That was some of the dumbest basketball I’ve ever seen from grown college men," he continued.

Barkley then took a subtle shot by calling the Crimson Tide "Alabama University" before saying he incorrectly said the name wrong on purpose to get under the skin of PGA Tour player Justin Thomas, who went to Bama.

Very few in Barkley's position would go and pick on a mid-major team like Grand Canyon after it gave one of the better offenses in the country a legitimate scare for the majority of the contest, but that's what makes Barkley different.

As for his actual claim, saying it was a dumb game of basketball from the Lopes, it has some merit.

Grand Canyon finished the contest shooting just 32% from the field and missing 14 free throws along the way. It also turned the ball over 14 times and gave up 20 offensive rebounds to the Tide.
