CFP Rankings: Ohio State Still On Top, ACC Could Have A Problem, Separation Saturday Awaits

The College Football Playoff rankings have been released for week two, with Buckeyes on top. But, the ACC is bound for CFP chaos

The latest college football playoff rankings have been released, and the ACC is staring down a pretty big problem when it comes to getting more than one team into the CFP.

Coming off a weekend of near-misses when it comes to upsets across the Big Ten, as both Indiana and Oregon survived on the road, we did see Texas Tech establish itself once again as a championship contender following the dominant win over BYU.

So, what does this mean for this week's rankings?

There is obviously an argument to be made over whether Texas A&M should've jumped Indiana and Ohio State as the No. 1 ranked team in this week's poll, but the Aggies control their own destiny when it comes to the playoff, and that No. 1 spot.

We are on a collision course for two monster games that will decide which team would get an automatic bye in the first round. Remember, conference champions do not receive the automatic qualifier, as it's now decided by whichever teams are ranked 1-4.

But, with Indiana versus Ohio State and Texas A&M versus Alabama inching closer to the first weekend of December, the battle for first round bye marches on.

After both Louisville and Virginia dropped games this past weekend, the ACC is racing towards a potential one-bid league, and the same could be said for the Big 12 if certain results play out over the next three weeks.

Remeber, the eight teams ranked 5-12 will play in on-campus games to start the playoff.

Week Two CFP Top-25 Released.

Now that we are just three weeks away from conference title weekend, these rankings are driving the conversation around the new metrics that the CFP committee are basing their decisions on.

How will the Big 12 play out? How many teams from the SEC and Big Ten keep themselves in consideration for a playoff bid?

Remember, the upcoming Notre Dame versus Pittsburgh is not an ACC matchup. Louisville did drop five spots this week after the loss to Cal, while Virginia dropped five spots following the loss to Wake Forest.

Simply put, the ACC is still up for grabs, in a very complicated way. Can the committee put Miami. After the loss to Texas Tech, the BYU Cougars dropped five spots this week.
